They bet on the recovery of post-consumer packaging

Recycling of Polystyrene (PS) containers becomes more important globally

During the G7 Ministerial Meeting on work to address climate change, oceans and clean energy, ReVital Polymers, Pyrowave and INEOS Styrolution, announced a strategic partnership to recycle Polystyrene containers collected from sidewalks and warehouses, as well as from restaurants, offices, colleges and universities.

The collaboration will use Canadian recycling technology – already employed by Pyrowave – with which the three companies together will recycle single-use polystyrene containers to manufacture new packaging and products.

According to Jocelyn Doucet, CEO of Pyrowave, the company’s technology expands the range of Polystyrene raw materials, making it possible to build a new value chain that links ReVital’s processing expertise with the global end-market capacity of INEOS Styrolution.

For his part, Keith Bechard, Commercial Director of ReVital Polymers Inc., pointed out that these new technologies can optimize the capacity of recovery, lead societies to be much closer to zero waste and improve the objectives of the circular economy.

With this collection program, the idea is to ensure that post-consumer Polystyrene can be accepted in the industry, since the solution will not only reduce the amount of Polystyrene containers that go to landfills, but will also address the global problem of plastic pollution in marine environments.

Ricardo Cuetos, Vice President of Standard Products of INEOS Styrolution América LLC, highlighted the enthusiasm that the company has with this sustainable project, which brings together the main players from around the world.
