Wiltopia’s new range is made from 80% plastic from sustainable sources
Since its inception, plastic has been a fundamental material for the toy industry. Now, the sector has evolved together with this material and is moving towards a more sustainable model. Such is the case of the Playmobil Wiltopia range, made with recycled plastic and which has already won several awards throughout 2022.
Wiltopia is Playmobil’s first line of sustainable products. Launched last July, this line aims to propose a message about the protection of nature and each of the items that compose it has been made with 80% sustainable materials, including recycled plastic and bio-based plastics.
The launch, explains Playmobil, is part of its sustainable production project that seeks to be more respectful of the environment and to be a climate-neutral company by 2027.
To achieve this, a large part of the material that makes up the Wiltopia line comes from recycled refrigerators. Similarly, the packaging of the new toys is made from almost 100% recycled cardboard, while the instructions are printed on 100% recycled paper.
Since its launch, Playmobil’s Wiltopia line, made from recycled plastics, has won several awards including being awarded the most successful new launch in the sustainable toy sector 2022 in the UK, according to consultancy NPD UK.
It has also received a gold medal in the Best Eco-Friendly Toy category at the BlogOn Awards for its Large Animal Care Station. Wiltopia Animal Playsets were also named Best Eco-Friendly Toy with a Bronze placement at the MadeForMums Awards.
“Wiltopia has had great success this year in the Playmobil business; animals and their educational content have become a boom,” explained Adam Moore, Playmobil marketing communications manager.
