The health sector in the Plastics Industry represents almost 7 million tons (2%), and although it was the only one that grew during the pandemic, it is still a marginal market segment, according to Aldimir Torres Arenas, president of Anipac ( National Association of Plastic Industries).
According to the executive, the most important part, despite the health crisis due to COVID-19, corresponds to short-lived products, such as containers and packaging, since these represent almost 47% of the market.
“Then we have the consumer sector in general, and it is segregating, the construction sector, with 12%; the automotive, with 7%; electronic, with 6%; the agricultural sector, with 3% and, finally, we have the health sector, with 2%”.
