The PKM800 high performance pulverizer converts scrap PVC and delivers 2,000 lbs/hr of recycled PVC with a 20 mesh (840 micron) particle size

Pallmann Industries, a provider of size reduction equipment for the Plastics Industry, recently introduced its Pallmann PKM800 spray system, a solution that offers higher performance, higher productivity, lower material cost and better cleanliness for products made from PVC.

Through a statement, the company explained that the installation of the Pallmann PKM800 allowed a leading manufacturer of PVC extrusions to expand its capacity. The client, whose name was not disclosed, needed to increase its capacity to cope with the increasing demand that has been experienced in response to the burgeoning building and construction market.

The high-performance PKM800 pulverizer, it was explained, converts scrap PVC and delivers 2,000 lbs/hr of recycled PVC with a 20 mesh (840 micron) particle size. These recycled powders are mixed with virgin PVC material and re-entered into the profile extrusion process.

According to Jeff Taylor, vice president of sales for Pallmann Industries, the PKM800 sprayer outperforms the previous competitive model by 2 to 1 in terms of production. “We are delighted to be able to provide a key customer with a cost-effective solution with minimal energy and maintenance requirements, while also providing a cleaner work environment,” said Taylor.

The new model is safer and cleaner thanks to a pulse jet closed bag housing that contains the dust. Unlike typical hanging baghouse plenums, the PKM800 blows air and discharges dust downward into a container.

The sprayer also offers uniform particle size distribution for the production of more intricate and detailed profiles. High quality powders can be produced and blemishes and pitting in finished parts are reduced.

It also features “segment” cutting technology which provides different teeth for different applications, unlike grinding rings which have limited teeth due to close drive tooth distances. Segments offer true scissor cutting action, allowing for better utilization of cutting energy, less heating, reduced fines, and adaptability to many materials.
