The company founded by Roberto Alvarado Yáñez, derived from a university project, emphasizes the potential of plastic as a successful business.

This new company manufactures eyeglass frames from recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottles and has already gained international recognition by bringing good quality eyewear to communities in poverty at a very affordable price.

“You don’t need a lot of material, with one kilogram of PET we can produce 56 frames. The idea is that the company grows and we do the whole process, from collecting the bottle to ‘pelletizing’ it; that would lower the cost of production even more and, therefore, the cost of sale ”, explained the entrepreneur.

The lenses are not sold in opticians. They go to the most unprotected communities in the country, have eye exams, and the Essilor company ships the cut and prescription glasses to be mounted on the PET frames.

This startup has already won contests to generate more resources that allow it to serve more populations that require this kind of recycled product. “The idea is to improve some points and receive support to make the company grow, always with the intention of benefiting Mexico,” Roberto concluded.
