The increase in the world population and the general increase of the middle class are key factors for the growth of the industry

In 2018, the value of the production of machinery for plastics and rubber worldwide reached a volume of about 36.8 billion euros compared to 36.3 billion in 2017 and almost 35 billion in 2016.

In 2017, European manufacturers of machinery for plastics generated 42.3% (42%, in 2017), which corresponds to a production value of 15.6 billion euros (15.3 billion in 2017).

According to Euromap, an association of mechanical engineering companies from Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey, in 2018, Europeans maintained their leadership in world trade with a 50% share.

In terms of production value, in 2018 China was also the largest nation in the manufacture of machinery for plastics with 11.4 billion euros (31.1% share), followed by Germany with 7.9 billion (21.5% of share), Italy with 2.9 billion (7.8% share), the US with 2.6 billion (7.1% share) and Japan with 1.4 billion (3.9% share).

In world trade, the German mechanical engineering industry leads with 24% of world exports, ahead of China (16.2%), Japan (9.9%), Italy (9.2%) and the United States (5.2%).

Fair K 2019
