Stratasys announced that the Audi Pre-Series Center, with its 3D Printing Center in Ingolstadt, Germany, will leverage the only multi-color, multi-material 3D equipment on the market – the Stratasys J750 printer, to innovate its design process and accelerate design verification. . Audi expects to reduce prototype lead times by up to 50% for the production of taillight covers.
The Audi Plastics 3D Printing Center will utilize full color multi-material 3D printing of the Stratasys J750 with the aim of optimizing the design process. This will allow the production of transparent and multi-colored covers in a single print. With over 500,000 color combinations available, the Stratasys team can 3D print transparent parts in multiple colors and textures that meet the stringent requirements of Audi’s design approval process.
Andy Middleton, President of EMEA, Stratasys, said: “Audi is an excellent example of how our 3D printing technology can combine several design processes into one, rapidly accelerating development cycles. If you extend the time savings achieved by Audi on the taillights to other parts of the vehicle, the overall impact on time to market can be huge. “
