Askoll Electric Bike and Scooter Battery Box Shows Efficiency Advantages
Electromobility is becoming more important in the sector. Its presence is greater in urban areas, where daily commuting to work requires more time due to traffic jams and searching for parking. Additionally, large cities around the world need effective solutions to minimize smog and traffic noise, while users demand fresh new approaches to reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs.
These factors make electric bicycles and scooters a logical alternative, since, in a comfortable and sustainable way, they allow short daily trips, such as those between home and workplace.
Against this background, electric vehicles require innovative materials that eliminate environmental noise and ensure a pleasant journey. In the case of external components, such as battery boxes, impermeability to water and resistance to atmospheric agents must be ensured. This opens up new and interesting application possibilities for Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE).
On this subject, Askoll, a manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, achieves a precision seal in two areas of its new battery box. The company uses a seal to dampen vibrations, sounds and obtain waterproofing.
According to Paolo Trabuio, Project Manager for Electric Scooters at Askoll, to seal their transports and cover the battery connection with a silent system, the company looked for a material that offers mechanical values and efficiency.
As the expert explained, “Kraiburg TPE accompanied us on this long journey, from conception to market launch. It helped us to select materials, optimize the design and carry out the adhesion and injection tests ”.
