Baerlocher USA presented at Compounding World Expo and showcased the latest in RST and Sustainable Metal Stearates
The demand for higher recycled content in the Plastics Industry clearly reflects growing environmental concerns. Against this background, companies play a key role and, in order to improve their processes – make them more sustainable – they invest in production areas.
During the Compounding World Expo, which was recently held at the Huntington Convention Center, Cleveland, Roberto Núñez, Baerlocher USA’s Chief of Business for Special Additives, reaffirmed the above by presenting a portfolio of resin stabilizer (RST) and environmentally progressive metal stearates.
Product experts affirm that, as a strategy to clean the image of plastics and enhance the development of the industry, transformers seek to modify the properties of polymers. Hence, technology platforms, such as Baeropol RST, become relevant in the sector.
Roberto Núñez explained that metal stearates (fatty acids) can be used as acid scavengers, stabilizers, lubricants, release agents and gelling or hydrophobic agents, in addition to improving production processes and, in many cases, allowing manufacturers to develop products with smooth surfaces and with low friction.
